Datastream is now part of the Thompson Corporation.  It has been converted into a software product that integrates with MS Office applications.  The software combines pre-formatted graphics and report templates with flexible charting functionality.  The current Datastream product meets the needs of new starters and power users alike due to its high level of customability.  The product for Office add-ins integrates the power and range of Datastream data with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

    The software receives its data from a centralized database and allows users to view and manipulate the requested data.  Users can create static and time-series data, resize and position data, and control the given data to their liking.  A request manager also allows users to view and edit embedded tables and graphs. 

    The Datastream embedded browser enables integration with other Thomson Financial internet products and usage guidance and support from the firm’s own extranet site. The newest Datastream product delivers an up to date and fully integrated browser based series lookup using the Datastream Navigator.
